Tomlin St Cyr Real Estate Services (TSC) is a strong supporter of community advocacy and philanthropy. We encourage our agents and leadership team to identify causes that they connect with personally. So, we are bringing back our monthly nonprofit spotlight series to share the causes we support!
Holly and John Tomlin, Principal and CEO respectively, and owners at TSC, are fervent about giving back to the Tampa Bay community. Their passion project is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay (BGCTB). The Tomlins have been involved with BGCTB for seven years, serving on various committees, and John is the 2020-22 board chairman. First established in 1926, the nonprofit’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. They engage in STEM activities, workforce development, character building, health and wellness learning, and more.
“Every child deserves a chance to realize their potential,” John Tomlin said. “With mentoring, leadership, opportunities, and discipline, we can give the next generation a better future.”
The past year or so has tasked the Tomlins and BGCTB with protecting kids from Covid, reinventing fundraising through a pandemic, facilitating collaboration, and securing a new CEO.
“Holly and John Tomlin are pillars of our community, not only for their tremendous support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, but the many charities they support within our community,” said Terry Carter, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. “We are blessed to have their support on many levels, as both Holly and John serve on our Foundation and Corporate Boards respectively, ensuring sustainability and insightful governance council. Their support of our Clubs and our kids are absolutely invaluable to our organization and mission.”
A favorite memory the Tomlins have is attending the Christmas party at one of the clubs and watching the children open their donated presents and seeing their excitement and appreciation. John also said he really enjoyed being a judge for the regional Youth of the Year evaluation. “These young people were so focused, humble, and driven to make a difference; it definitely was moving and encouraging,” he said. The most recent BGCTB Youth of the Year recipient, Myona, along with her Club Director, Felteena, had the privilege of representing the nonprofit at this year’s Super Bowl!
While BGCTB is near and dear to the Tomlins’ hearts, they also give their time and resources to many other local nonprofits. John was on the Greater Tampa REALTORS® board and is currently the chair of its Member Value Committee. He also serves as the director of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation and director at Corbett Preparatory School. Holly is a Tampa General Hospital Medical Group charter board member. Their love of giving back to their community extends to their employees.
“Passion for their cause will make them great volunteers,” John Tomlin said. “Tomlin St Cyr will support their efforts with both corporate contributions and promoting agent volunteer support when possible. Previous efforts include donating a car to Wheels of Success, walking for Miles for Moffitt, assisting Habitat for Humanity home construction, collecting and distributing items for Toys for Tots, and providing Thanksgiving meals for our military.”
After five years of supporting worthy causes around Tampa Bay, our leadership team is considering a more permanent way of financially supporting those causes that connect most with the TSC team. Stay tuned!
