As ardent supporters of the Tampa Bay community, Tomlin St Cyr Real Estate Services (TSC) are proud, long-time supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. On Saturday, September 18, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is hosting The Great Futures Gala featuring guest speaker Earvin “Magic” Johnson and honoree Bob Basham. All funds raised go to support the nonprofit.
“The gala is an incredible event where we highlight some great stories about Club kids and recognize a community leader for their hard work and dedication on behalf of the kids,” said John Tomlin, CEO of TSC and Chair of the Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. “In addition to honoring Basham as an extraordinary community leader, we are also excited to have Magic Johnson as our celebrity host. As a Club kid, Magic understands the power of mentorship and guidance found at the Clubs.”
TSC’s Continued Support
“We are so fortunate to have the tremendous support of John and Holly Tomlin,” said Terry Carter, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. “Not only do John and Holly give us their time and expertise by serving on our Corporate and Foundation Boards respectively, but they also sponsor several of our major annual fundraising events, including the Great Futures Gala and the Great Futures Breakfast. Their generous involvement with these events is absolutely invaluable to our organization, our kids and our mission.”
TSC has also provided $1,000 in scholarships for families in Lacoochee, FL, that could not afford the $150 tuition to send their children to the 8-week summer program. This program provides kids a safe place to enjoy their summers for 11 hours a day. Additionally, TSC has set up a scholarship program for all Club kids to help with college expenses, donating $200,000 to the program. TSC also participates in Taste of Kentucky, a fundraising event with fine bourbon and food tastings as well as Fuente cigars.
About The Boys & Girls Club
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is to enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. While there are no short-term solutions for the problems our country faces, preparing the next generation of leaders with the right skills and values will enable us to move forward to a better tomorrow.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay operate 22 Clubs in Hillsborough and Pasco counties, supporting 11,000 youth, mainly from underserved areas, with after-school programs as well as summer camps. The Clubs serve as a safe space for kids when school is out, where they will experience quality programming that highlights three pillars: Academic Success, Character & Leadership, and Health & Wellness.
In addition to making sure that kids get at least one hot meal and nutritious snacks every day, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay place a big emphasis on helping kids make up for the learning loss that is experienced in underserved areas and has been made worse by the pandemic. Club programming also includes an emphasis on social justice, as The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay has a partnership with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Eight of the Clubs have a full-time deputy on site, serving as both a friendly face and a positive role model for the kids.
